How to Tolerate A Job You Can’t Stand

sad-face1Dread going to work every Monday? Feel like you’re going to snap at your employer? Find the source of displeasure with this job. Is it the pay, the co-workers, your boss, the menial tasks? Here are some tips to get you through the next few working days without pulling your hair out.

Step 1

Play soothing music throughout the day. The music will subliminally calm you and possibly drown out the negativity your co-workers or boss may be spewing.

Step 2

On your breaks and lunch, take a walk around outside. Since you cannot actually walk to your car to go home, a walk outside in the fresh air may help to clear your mind and retain your sanity just a little while longer.

Step 3

Put up pictures of something or someone that motivates you. Usually pictures of a loved one will remind you of why you are even there in the first place.

Step 4

If it’s pay that is a problem, consider approaching your boss about a possibility of a pay increase in writing. Showcase your worth. Point out all the accomplishments, great work and effort you have provided to the company.

Step 5

If your boss is not receptive or cannot assist, you may want to consider looking within the company for other higher paying opportunities. This option may also help if you are sick of the menial tasks at hand and need a challenge.
